Mukabelehs - coming-out and coming up (Mar-Apr 2017)

As many are aware, we’ve been cooking some chickpeas this past month. For those less familiar with the turning tradition, this is what we say when we are training new turners, following from a poem by Rumi

We are planning Mukabelehs additional to those in the WSG term calendar originally published, and WSG members are invited.

Coming-Out Mukabeleh

When: 31 March, 7:15 pm
Where: 31 Hobson Crescent, Thorndon

This is a special occasion for the new turners, to be shared with friends, family and supporters. All turners (past and present), helpers during the training, and members of the Wellington Study Group, are warmly invited to attend.

We realise this falls on the same Friday as the Strathean Harvest weekend. Owing to many constraints and the need to complete the training, a tough call had to be made. Apologies to those who would come to both events.

Naturally it would be lovely if you could join us, so the chickpeas can meet the wider community. If you bring food, finger food would be best, as there will be too many of us to fit around the table in the kitchen.

Extra Mukabeleh

  • When: 21 April, 7:15 pm
  • Where: 31 Hobson Crescent, Thorndon

We have fitted in an additional Mukabeleh, to keep the chickpeas warm and enable others to come and be 'lovers' who were not able to attend on 31 March. Guests welcome. The original calendar continues from 5 May.

Turning Practices

Weekly turning practices resume on Wednesday, 5 April, 5:45 pm in the large room at Hobson Crescent. The green room and small room will be used for changing from 5:30 to 6:30 pm Wednesday evenings. Please contact Kieron if you would like to know more, or were thinking you might have exclusive use of those rooms.
